Why does the Explorer I installed fail to show up in the console?

Modified on Fri, Sep 22, 2023 at 1:18 PM

Some firewalls will block communication between the runZero Explorer and the system console. In particular, some firewalls attempt to perform inspection of TLS connections (HTTPS), but can't handle WebSockets. Some firewalls from Sophos/Cyberoam are known to have this problem.

If this is the fault, the runZero Explorer log from /var/log/rumble.log or C:\Program Files\runZero will contain I/O timeout errors like the following:

time="2023-07-18T13:05:19+03:00" level=error msg="failed to connect to wss://console.rumble.run/socket/explorer/connect: dial tcp 76.223.34.198:443: i/o timeout"

The fix is to set up the firewall to allow the communications, or set up the Explorer to use a proxy. See:
