What is the difference between Default Scan Scope and Registered Subnets for a Site?

Modified on Thu, Aug 24, 2023 at 4:00 PM

In runZero, a Site represents a network that may overlap with the networks of other sites. The list of registered subnets does not need to include all of the subnets for a site, and the default scan scope does not need to encompass the entire site network.

Registered subnets automatically become part of the default scan scope for the site, so CIDR specifications added to the default scan scope are automatically moved to the list of registered subnets. Individual IPs and IP ranges are left in the default scan scope field.

The site scan scope is the set of registered subnets, plus any other addresses or address ranges from the default scan scope field.

The site scan scope (registered subnets plus default scan scope) provides a default discovery scope for any new scan task set up for the site.
